Advantage Health Check Up The concept of health checkup on an annual basis is a blessing to the population. Many diseases are picked up at an early stage before they cause irreversible damage to the body systems. In the contest of surgical aspects of health check up, my experience as a surgeon at Apollo Clinic Thane for the last 5 years has revealed that the positive detection rate for surgical diseases across all age groups is about 10% which is quite significant. It is an advantage to the patient as the disease is picked up at a very early stage which is specifically important in certain situations such as breast disorders in women. In the medical arena I feel it could be little higher. Overall it is highly recommended that subjects above the age of 40 years should undergo regular health checkups.
