Walk your way to health
Walk your way to health
Physical activity should be made a part of our daily routine. It is as essential as sleep and nutrition. Although many of us know that exercising will reduce the risk of disease and illness, the very thought of exercising can be over whelming. Misconceptions which contribute to physically inactive lifestyles are that exercise has to be difficult and strenuous, it has to hurt your body and you have to do lots of it for it to be beneficial.
Brisk walking at a speed at which one feels comfortable is the best exercise and gives benefit to every organ system of our body.
1. Reduces risk of heart disease.
2. Reduces risk of blood pressure
3. Decreases resting heart rate which decreases the work load on the heart at rest.
4. Increases bone density.
5. Reduces the risk of osteoporosis
6. Improves sexual performance
7. Improves strength and stamina
8. Increases co-ordination and balance in older individuals.
9. Improves flexibility of joints.
10. Improves respiration
11. Improves circulation
12. Helps prevent constipation
13. Helps with weight control
14. Improves sense of well being and reduces stress.
So get up, get a health check up for fitness and begin with a simple 45 minute walking schedule to keep the hospital and doctor away.
